Knitting Pattern for Duck Puppet

I'm getting a bit behind with blog posts at the moment. I have several patterns waiting to publish - all scribbled on little scraps of paper, so here we go with a pattern for a duck puppet. 



You will need: Approx 20g dk wool for body, oddments of orange and black for beak, feet and eyes.
Needles: 1 pair size 8 or 7 (4 mm or 4.5mm) needles.

Cast on 36 stitches using main colour wool and work 6 rows in garter stitch.

Work 14 rows in stocking stitch.

Wings:
Next row: Cast on 3 stitches. Knit back these 3 sts plus 18 sts from body. (21 sts altogether).  Turn leaving remaining 18 stitches on a spare needle.  
Next Row: Cast on 3 sts. Purl back these 3 sts and purl to end. (24 sts.)
Repeat the last 2 rows twice more, increasing 3 sts at the beginning of each row until there are 36 sts on the needle. 
Work 2 rows in stocking st.
Continuing in stocking st. cast off 3 sts at the beginning of next 6 rows. (18 sts)
Continuing in stocking st. cast off 4 sts at the beginning of next 2 rows. (10 sts)
Head:
Knit 2 rows in st st.
Inc 1 st at each end of next row. Purl one row. (12 sts)
Inc 1 st at each end of next row. (14 sts)
Starting with a purl row, work 5 rows in st st.
Dec  1 st at each end of next row. Purl one row. (12 sts)
Dec  1 st at each end of next row. Purl one row. (10 sts)
Dec  1 st at each end of next row. Purl one row. (8 sts)
Cast off the remaining 8 sts.
Rejoin wool to the 18 sts on a spare needle, and work the wings and head again as above.
Sew together the two sets of wings and heads, and join the side seam.

Beak:
Using  orange wool, cast on 8 sts.
Working in st st throughout, knit 2 rows.
Knit 2 sts together 4 times. (4 sts)
Purl 1 row.
Knit 2 sts together twice. (2 sts)
Purl 1 row.
Knit into front and back of  each st. (4 sts)
Purl 1 row.
Knit into front and back of  each st. (8 sts)
Purl 1 row. Knit 1 row.
Cast off.
Fold beak in half, cast on and cast off edges together, right side out, and oversew around the row ends, forming a cone. Sew cone to face,  opening up the end as shown.

Feet: make 2.
Knit in garter st throughout.
Cast on 4 sts.
Knit 6 rows.
Inc 1 st at each end of next row. Knit 1 row. (6 sts)
Inc 1 st at each end of next row. Knit 1 row. (8 sts)
Cast off.
Attach cast-on edge of feet to bottom front. 
Sew some eyes in black wool.
